In 2012, George was recognized by the Obama administration for the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring individuals who have performed 4,000 or more hours of volunteerism. He has volunteered extensively in his local community through the Kiwanis Club, serving as Lt. Governor, President and head of countless committees over the past 35 years. George has also volunteered his time to coach softball, basketball, baseball and soccer. That includes positions as commissioner for youth football in southeastern Massachusetts, coaching Junior Olympic softball teams and president of the town football and softball programs. He is very proud of the time he spent coaching youth sports teams to challenge them physically, as well as provide a safe and positive environment.
When he is not working, George enjoys spending time with his wife and family, which includes a number of grandchildren. When his children were young, they enjoyed exploring the U.S. through travel, visiting many baseball stadiums and national parks. George is excited that his grandchildren have begun enjoying these types of adventures, and he and his wife can carry on the tradition with the new generation.
